  1. Hey man/ Where’d you pick up the components for the led? (Light, sink, supply) Having a little trouble finding something similar.

    • Hi! Please don’t die. Google is your friend. Don’t try anything electrical that you are not sure of.

I don’t know what kind of sockets you have. The ones I bought had 2 cables, you have to wire them in parallel (positive with positive, negative with negative) and attach a standard plug. You can also buy a light fixture that has the wiring already done.

      Good luck!

  2. Why not use two buckets, and flip the top one upside down on top? All you need is space, and the bottom of the top bucket is stronger than a lid. NTM the overall cost and waste would be lower than cutting apart a bunch of good buckets.

    Solder your wires

You could also hinge the two clam shells of buckets together.

    • I was wondering the same thing at first, but I’m guessing it has to do with keeping the light from above as close to the plant as possible, thus allowing more growth. A bucket with fixed lights way up top would (probably) not be as effective as one where the lights are moved as the plant grows. Someone with more knowledge should feel free to weigh in

      • You could actually go through with your idea. Cut some wood that is thin into a circle smaller than the diameter of the bucket. Wire/add your sockets/cfl bulbs just as you would if you were attaching them to the bucket lid. Use a chain string to suspend the diy fixture. Move it up as your plant grows. You can also use led bulbs which need to be about 18 inches give/take away from your plants anyway. So the distance wouldn’t be an issue. One last alternative could be a UFO led. I think I’ve seen them from 50w to 135w & they have a fan to keep them cool. Let me know what you think.
